Dandy Diamonds features: sticky respins, square merges and two kinds of Bolt
This title has four moving parts and they are not independent. A Diamond sticks and starts a respin; Diamonds in a square corner merge into one larger symbol; a Bolt raises the values of whatever sits near it; an Epic Bolt raises everything. The order in which the game applies them is published, and it explains most of what looks surprising on screen.
Diamond symbols and Dandy Respins
A Diamond substitutes for all symbols in the paytable, and it may land carrying an additive multiplier from the set 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x. Once the winning combinations from that spin have been handled, the Diamond triggers a Dandy Respin. All Diamonds become sticky, meaning they keep their board position and their multiplier value while new symbols spin in around them. Every time a new Diamond lands, another respin is awarded.
The sequence continues until no new Diamond lands or no positions remain available. That second condition is easy to skip past and it is the more interesting one: a run of good luck ends the feature by filling the board, not by failing. Wins are awarded after every respin, so a sequence pays as it goes rather than settling once at the end.
Why the label on screen may not be the label that landed
A Diamond's multiplier is not fixed at the moment it arrives. Bolts raise the values of the Diamonds they reach before any wins are rewarded, so by the time a line pays, the numbers printed on the artwork are the current accumulated state rather than the ones that landed. Reading a result backwards from the final screen will therefore under-count what happened unless the Bolt is taken into account first.
Colossal Diamond symbols
When four or more Diamonds land in a square formation of 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 they merge into a single Colossal Diamond. The multiplier values held by the contributing Diamonds are added together and applied to the merged symbol, which then acts as one large wild substituting for every symbol in the paytable. Its multiplier applies to each winning combination the Colossal takes part in.
A Colossal is not frozen at the size it formed. If further Diamonds land around it in such a way that they collectively complete a larger square — growing from two-by-two to three-by-three, in the studio's own example — the symbol expands and the new values come with it. On a board of twenty-five positions the largest square is the board itself.
Where the Diamonds are, not just how many
The consequence worth holding on to is spatial. Collecting six Diamonds scattered across the board and collecting four in one corner are not the same event: only the second merges. Where the Diamonds are matters as much as how many there are, and that is unusual in a line-paying game, where position normally only matters along a line.
Bolt and Epic Bolt symbols
A Bolt activates when it lands within a three-by-three square formation surrounding a Diamond or a Colossal Diamond. On activation it applies a multiplier value, or increases the values of all Diamonds and Colossals inside that square, before any wins are rewarded. When the wins have been awarded the Bolt spins out of the board along with the regular paying symbols. Bolts can land during regular spins and during Dandy Respins alike, and the values they add are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x.
An Epic Bolt activates whenever it lands while there is any Diamond on the board. It carries the same values and applies them to every Diamond and Colossal on the board rather than to a neighbourhood. Only one Bolt and one Epic Bolt can land during the same spin; when both land and activate together, the ordinary Bolt goes first.
The order, written out once
Symbols land. The Bolt, if there is one, raises values inside its square. The Epic Bolt, if there is one, raises values across the board. Wins are then awarded with those values. Both Bolts leave the board. If a Diamond landed this spin, a respin follows and the sticky Diamonds keep whatever values they now hold. Every step of that is the studio's own wording; the only thing added here is putting the steps in a row.
Feature buys, where they exist at all
One catalogue prices four purchased entries for this title: a 3x buy that makes a spin several times more likely to open a bonus, a 50x buy that guarantees at least four Diamonds land, a 50x buy straight into Diamond in the Rough and a 200x buy into Play with Safire. Those prices are that catalogue's. The studio page we hold prices nothing, our own record of this title does not mention purchased entries at all, and nothing we hold says a purchase changes which return build is installed.
There is a further reason not to treat the list as a specification. A purchased entry is not permitted at operators licensed in Great Britain, which one of the same catalogues states outright. If the control is absent from the game in front of a reader, that is the answer for them, and no page can override it.
How the feature set behaves, asked plainly
Each answer below is the studio's own rule, restated. Where our record adds something the studio's page does not carry, the sentence says so.
| Asked | Answered |
|---|---|
| When does a Dandy Respin end? | When a respin brings no new Diamond, or when there are no free positions left on the board. Those are the studio's two conditions. |
| Do two multipliers multiply each other? | No. Values in the same winning combination are added together and the total is applied once. The studio calls them additive for that reason. |
| Can a Colossal Diamond grow? | Yes. Diamonds landing around it that complete a larger square enlarge it, and their multiplier values are folded into the enlarged symbol. |
| What is the difference between the two Bolts? | Reach. A Bolt acts inside the three-by-three square around a Diamond; an Epic Bolt acts on every Diamond on the board. |
| Can both Bolts land at once? | One of each, at most, in the same spin. When both land the ordinary Bolt activates first and the Epic Bolt follows it. |
The symbols these rules act on are set out on the symbol page, and what changes about them inside each round is on the bonus page. The figures behind all of it, each with its publisher named, are on the figures page. The short version of the whole title is the opening page, and the browser build is on the phone page.
